How to Remove Vinayak Dosha or How to Remove Vighna Grahas

We know about the Navagrahas and their negative effects. But in a few stotras and mantras, we additionally learn about vinayak graha, skanda graha, and much more. Today I will talk about vinayak peeda, its symptoms, and how to treat it.

To understand this, you must first understand who the Vinayakas are. We consider Vinayaka to be one of the names of Lord Ganesha. But that is not entirely true. The story is that during a kalpa, the Vinayakas were rakshasas born from the shadow of Lord Shiva. They have become aggressive, extremely powerful, unstoppable and have caused quite a few protests. Lord Shiva made Ganesha the lord of vinayakas grahas

these symptoms are outlined in the Yajnavalkya Smriti (Chapter 1, Verses 271–294) and the Sushruta Samhita to describe a person who is possessed or heavily afflicted by the Vinayakas (before they evolved into the benevolent Ganesha

The Grahas: The word Graha literally means "seizer" or "possessor." In ancient times, the Vinayakas were a group of four malevolent spirits or minor deities who "possessed" people to cause obstacles, bad dreams, failures, and madness.

Evolution into Ganesha: To mitigate their negative effects, texts prescribed a pacification ritual called the Vinayaka Shanti. Over centuries, these four obstacle-creating Vinayaka Grahas merged into a single, supreme deity appointed by Lord Shiva to command them: Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha), the ultimate "Remover of Obstacles" (Vighnaharta)

Dosha is controlled and stabilized by working with Lord Ganesha through these vinayak grahas.

Are the classic psychological symptoms of a Graha (seizer) gripping the mind

Some humans are born with these signs and symptoms. In the ketu and Budha.Kundli preside over Vinayak pida. The negative position of these planets indicates Vinayak pida. The reason why one gets vinayak pida is because he did not give proper appreciation to Lord Ganesha where he wanted.

The remedy, in the puranas, is to take a Vinayak Snaan. I am going to mention a simple solution right here, which can be observed by anyone. The treatment is to chant Ganesh Atharvashirsha one thousand times. During the sadhana, you should think as if you were taking a bath with the help of holy water which purifies every inch of your body and gives you the golden glow of peace.

The Purification Bath (Snana)

The affliction is treated as a deep psychological and energetic impurity. The ritual requires a bath using:

Sacred Water: Water collected from a holy river or energized with mantras.

Ausphadhis (Herbs): The water must be boiled or mixed with Sarvashadhi (a blend of auspicious herbs like Jatamansi, Turmeric, and Sandalwood) and Muruva.

Earth: Soil collected from specific potent places: a royal palace gates, a horse stable, an elephant stable, and the confluence of rivers.

Application: The person sits on a wooden plank, and the herbal/earthen water is poured over them while specific Vedic hymns are chanted to drive away the heavy energy.

 The Tilak (Anointment)

After the bath, the person’s forehead is anointed with a paste made of Mustard oil and Spotted leaf extracts (Alakta), which are traditionally believed to repel negative entities or psychic blockages.

Offerings to the Quarters (Bali)

Food offerings are made to pacify the four Vinayakas (Mita, Sammita, Shalakatankata, and Kushmandarajaputra). The offerings are placed at a crossroads (where four roads meet) and include:

  • Puffed rice and boiled beans.
  • Flesh/meat (traditionally, though modern practice replaces this with vegetarian substitutes like ash gourd or flour paste).
  • Sweets, wine (or substitute), and flowers.

 Worship Lord Ganesha

the ultimate remedy to prevent these symptoms from returning is to transition the energy by worshipping Lord Ganesha as the Master of these forces.

Chanting: Daily recitation of the Sankata Nashana Ganesha Stotram or Ganesh Atharvashirsha

Durva Grass: Offering 21 blades of Durva grass to Ganesha on Wednesdays.

Note: Because these symptoms include severe sleep deprivation, intense anxiety, paranoia, and chronic sadness, it is highly recommended to balance these traditional spiritual remedies with modern medical or psychological support to address the nervous system exhaustion.

After you are done with one thousand readings, you want to recite this atharvashirsha 1 time before doing all your nitya path, before reading your books, before starting the race be it spiritual or religious, and before any other important activities.
