Bhagvati Tara

Mother Tara is the blue-throated one; she manifested as light at the time of the universe's creation, thereby becoming renowned by the name 'Tara'. However, Goddess Tara is also known as 'Mahanila' or 'Neel Tara' (Blue Tara) due to her blue complexion. A legend associated with this recounts that during the *Samudra Manthan* (Churning of the Ocean), the deadly *Halahal* poison emerged and began to threaten the destruction of the three worlds. Consequently, all demons, gods, and sages implored Lord Shiva for protection; the benevolent Shiva then consumed the *Kalkut* poison that had arisen from the churning.

1) Ugratara, 2) Ekajata, and 3) Neel Saraswati.

The Goddess is the power of the Supreme Being (Parameshwar), the embodiment of the entire cosmos. She possesses seven principal *Kalas* (manifestations of divine power) through which She protects the universe, living beings, and the gods alike. These seven powers are:

1) Para, 2) Paratpara, 3) Atita, 4) Chitpara, 5) Tatpara, 6) Tadatita, and 7) Sarvatita.

By meditating upon or remembering the Goddess along with these *Kalas*, the worshipper effortlessly gains knowledge of various disciplines. No one across the three worlds can rival the intellectual prowess of a devotee of Goddess Tara. She is known as *Siddhavidya* because She is capable of bestowing both worldly enjoyment (*Bhoga*) and spiritual liberation (*Moksha*) simultaneously. Goddess Tara is the source of the various forms of Saraswati; hence, She is also known as Neel Saraswati. A devotee of the Goddess attains supreme intellect, enabling them to comprehend the nature of the world and creation itself; the wisdom contained within the sacred syllable (*Akshara*) constitutes the essence of *Tara Vidya*. She is called 'Tara' because She ferries beings across the ocean of worldly existence (*Bhavasagar*). The Goddess is clad in a tiger skin and adorned with necklaces and bracelets made of serpents. Her complexion is blue, and Her worship is centered around the color blue. Devotion to any of Goddess Tara's three forms can bestow prosperity, immense strength, and profound wisdom. The three worlds worship Her as the power behind the origin and illumination of the cosmos; indeed, the entire creation receives the light of countless suns solely through Her grace. In the scriptures, She is referred to as *Savitragni* (the fire of the Sun), and Her grace is attained through hymns of praise (*Stuti*). Praise:- Pratyalidh padarpitaaghrishavhrid ghoraattahasa parakhadgendivarkartri kharparbhuja humkar bijodbhava, kharva neelvishal pingaljatjutakana gairyutajadynnyasya kapalike trijagataam hantyugrataara self

By the grace of the Goddess, the seeker attains knowledge of life as well as both enjoyment and salvation. A householder should always worship the Goddess in a gentle form. The Goddess sits on the body in the form of ignorance and destroys the enemies in the form of ignorance with the sword of knowledge. By offering red and blue flowers and coconut four-faced lamp, Tara Devi Yantra, the devotee of Prasannadevi becomes a goddess. No one in the three worlds can beat her in terms of knowledge and wisdom and discretion. On the idol of the Goddess, By offering Rudraksh, even the biggest obstacles can be destroyed. By the mantras of Mahavidya Tara, even the biggest sorrows can be destroyed.

This mantra is also used for specific ritual purposes (*kamya prayoga*): 1. Performing a *havan* (sacrificial fire ritual) using *Bilva* leaves, *Bhojpatra* (birch bark), and *ghee* (clarified butter) leads to the attainment of Goddess Lakshmi's grace. 2. Performing the ritual with honey, sugar, and *kheer* (sweet rice pudding) facilitates *vashikaran* (bringing someone under one's influence). 3. Using *havan* materials mixed with *ghee* and sugar creates a powerful attraction. 4. Performing the ritual with black sesame seeds and *kheer* immobilizes or subdues enemies (*stambhan*). There are three *maha-mantras* corresponding to the three principal forms of the Goddess. The sacred number associated with the Goddess—derived from the mathematics she manifested—is known as 'Tara' itself; this is her *maha-ank* (sacred number). Special ritual offerings that attract the Goddess's special grace include: offering white or blue lotus flowers; offering earrings made of *Rudraksha* beads; offering pomegranate seeds as *prasad*; placing a *Surya Shankh* (Sun-conch) during the worship; offering a *Bhojpatra* inscribed with the syllable 'Hreem'; and offering *Durva* grass, *Akshat* (unbroken rice grains), red sandalwood paste, *Panchagavya*, *Panchmewa* (five types of dry fruits), and *Panchamrit*. During the worship, use *Urad dal* (split black gram), cloves, and black peppercorns as offerings. While making these offerings, chant the following mantra of the Goddess

Development of the Power of Speech (Vak Siddhi)

Ritual for Goddess Tara: Goddess Tara is one of the ten Mahavidyas and is also known as Neel Saraswati she represents the Tantric form of Goddess Saraswati. Now, offer a pomegranate to Lord Ganesha while chanting the following mantra; alternatively, you may offer a coconut or an idol made of dough as the offering.

ॐ गं उच्छिस्ट गणेशाय नमः भो भो देव प्रसिद प्रसिद मया दत्तं इयं बलिं गृहान हूँ फट

om gam ucchhist ganeshay namah bho bho dev prasid prasid maya dattam iyam balim gruhaan hum fat

ॐ भं क्षं फ्रें नमो अक्षोभ्य काल पुरुष सकाय प्रसिद प्रसिद मया दत्तं इयं बलिं गृहान हूँ फट

om bham ksham fren namo akshobhya kal purush sakay prasid prasid maya dattam iyam balim gruhaan hum fat

Now, chant this mantra for one full round of the mala.

॥क्षं अक्षोभ्य काल पुरुषाय नमः स्वाहा॥

॥ksham akshobhya kal purushay namah svahaa॥

Then, chant one rosary of the following mantra.

hrim gam hastipishaachi likhe svahaa

It is mandatory to chant one full rosary (mala) of these mantras at both the beginning and the end of the practice. This is because chanting the *Beej Mantra* of Goddess Neel Tara triggers an explosive surge of immense energy within the body. It creates a sensation of flying through the air—one moment you feel as though you are traversing the realms beyond the seven heavens, and the very next, you feel as if you are diving into the depths of a fathomless ocean. The energy surge is so intense that you may begin to feel weak; your physical body cannot withstand the sheer impact and radiance of that energy. That is precisely why you must chant one rosary of these specific mantras at the start and the conclusion of the practice. Otherwise, not even the Mother Goddess herself could save you from losing your sanity. Since this *Sadhana* awakens five of your *Chakras*, you can gauge for yourself the immense energy-generating potential of this mantra; it awakens each *Chakra* by striking it with powerful, high-intensity surges of energy. Indeed, what is an atomic bomb compared to this *Beej Mantra* of the Goddess?
All such worldly weapons would pale into insignificance beside it.
Root Mantra—॥ Strim ॥
After completing the *Jap* (chanting) each day, do not forget to offer the practice to the Goddess and recite the prayer for forgiveness. Upon concluding the *Sadhana*, the practitioner should perform a *Havan* and offer a meal to a young girl. If it is not feasible to feed a young girl, one should donate the monetary equivalent of a meal to a needy person.
May Bhagavati bless you all with well-being.
Chanting Her other mantras becomes beneficial once the recitation of Bhagavati's *Beej Mantra* has crossed the one-lakh mark.
Power of speech
Some individuals are unable to express themselves; they lack the ability to speak or have not fully developed the power of speech. Such individuals should install a 'Tara Yantra' on a Wednesday. After performing the *Panchopchar* worship (worship using five ritual elements), they should chant the specific mantra 21 times using a *Sphatik* (crystal) rosary.
mantra
ॐ नमः पद्मासने शब्दरुपे ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं वद वद वाग्वादिनी स्वाहा
Om Namah Padmasane Shabd Rupe Aim Hreem Kleem Vad Vad Vaagvadini Swaha

On the 21st day, mix barley and ghee into the *havan* materials, offer 108 oblations while chanting the aforementioned mantra, and finally perform the *Purna Ahuti* (final offering).
This *Sadhana* (spiritual practice) develops the power of speech and eliminates any tremor or unsteadiness in the voice.
This is a form of *Mohini Vidya* (the art of enchantment); many orators and narrators of scriptures master this very mantra to captivate audiences with the spellbinding magic of their words.

Every day before the sadhana, worship Maa Tara and one garland

॥ॐ तारायै विद्महे महोग्रायै धीमहि तन्नो देवी प्रचोदयात्॥

This is the Tara Gayatri Mantra; its essence is: “We know Goddess Tara and meditate upon that Goddess who possesses a magnificent, fierce form. May She keep our consciousness engaged in Her contemplation and Her divine play.” Ordinary devotees of Mother Tara should mentally chant the Tara Gayatri Mantra with this very sentiment.
